Black Dog Wines & Spirits, Ltd Posted on January 31, 2015 by JuneJanuary 31, 2015

Black Dog Wines & Spirits will be hosting Wine Tastings on Friday, February 6th Friday,  and February 13th.  Both wine tasting are geared for beginner to seasoned wine drinkers,  all are welcome to come and taste. 4-7pm

February 6 we’ll be tasting the wines from Regio Wines and February 13 we’ll be tasting wines from Thousand Island Wines.

Stop in for a sip or 2 and take home a bottle or 2.  4-7 each Friday.

Regio

Zinfandel enthusiasts covet Old Vine, Old Clone Zinfandels from Lodi, where Zinfandel was first planted in the 1850’s. Today Lodi is recognized as the capital for California’s signature varietal, and Regio, the Italian word for royalty, shows the flavor profile that makes Zinfandel a truly unique varietal. This release is filled with spicy flavors of dark fruit and quiet vanilla oak accents.

Other Vintage Dated Lodi Releases:
Chardonnay
Marsanne
Dry Rose
Moscato

Thousand Islands Winery is located in Jefferson County, New York.

The winery is located on a farm that was built in 1836.  The farm was later owned and operated by Captain Massey and his wife Ida in the 1930’s.  Captain Massey was a famous Riverboat Captain. He owned a huge Great Lake Vessel that he eventually sold to the Department of Defense for the war effort during World War II.

Steve and Erika Conaway purchased the Farm in December 2002.  Upon Steve’s retirement from the military, they decided to create a winery in Alexandria Bay, NY.  This was inspired by the years that Steve has spent in Germany with the US Army.  There, he fell in love with wine and decided to bring a taste of Germany to upstate New York.

The winery opened its doors to the public in July of 2003 hand-bottling 1300 gallons of wine during its first year.  The winery has grown much in the years that have passed and currently bottle over 30,000 gallons of wine.

We invite you to taste our hand crafted wines for yourself and Wine Down in the Islands!
